UNO:
  • Privateers' season ends at Shocker hands
Saints:
  • One senior NFL writer (the best, IMO) is VERY OPTIMISTIC about the Saints in 2007.
  • 1st Round Choice Meachem is both heavy and hurt.
  • New TE Johnson trying to learn playbook and connect with Brees.
  • Payton liked what he saw in minicamp.
  • Another writer really likes the Saints.

Saints:
  • The Saints continued minicamp, which wraps up on Sunday. Drew Brees is apparently looking good and enthusiastic. At this time last year, he was limited in the amount of throwing he could do, but not this year. Of course, it is just minicamp, where optimism gets fertilized. Anyway, here are the headlines:
  • A lackluster practice
  • No Reggie in this year's rookie class, either.
  • The Advocate has a nice article on the trade that brought Scott Shanle to the Saints. I remember when this was made, and how the Dallas media how Shanle wasn't really an NFL linebacker. Same for Fujita, another Cowboy cast-off. Guess those boys weren't good enough for the Tuna, but I bet they sure enjoyed grilling the Cowboys in Dallas 42-17. Good Times.
  • Foxsports.com has a good summary of the Saints minicamp.
  • Several sources are reporting that the Saints are asking Millsaps College for about $600,000 worth of improvements to the facilities that the Saints use for Training camp.
UNO:
  • Arizona puts UNO into the loser's bracket of the Wichita Regional
ULM:
  • The News Star takes a look back at the ULM Baseball season
LSU:
  • The Advocate has a story about Matt Branch, Les Miles' latest signee.
  • Rabalais: SEC Meeting roundup.
  • One guess as to the most hated coach in the SEC....
  • Paul Manieri wants to add pop to Tiger bats for next year.
  • Collegefootballnews.com has some very early BCS projections for this next season, and their projections will definitely please LSU fans. My first reaction? Way too optimistic. This team has a lot to prove, especially in week 2, when a good VA Tech team comes to Baton Rouge.
ULL:
Tatford's catch takes down the Ags, meaning the Cajuns could be one win away from the Super Regional.

Welcome

Welcome to Pelican State Sports! We hope you will check back here regularly for information on Louisiana's pro and college sports teams. Our goal here is to make the PSS blog your one-stop shop for information of the teams you love. We scour the internet for articles and opinion on our teams and post it here, so you can check it out. If this goes well, in the future we hope to cover Louisiana high school sports as well. So we are going to be link intensive, but we are sure that we will be unable to resist the urge to write the occasional commentary as well. Feel free to email any comments you may have or links that we may have missed at pelicanstatesports@gmail.com.
